Property Taxes & Property Assessments
UNDERSTANDING THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING

It's  okay to not like property taxes, however something I've long held as a truth is it is never okay to not understand something which you allow yourself to be angry about. That is just one of the reasons why when I'm elected I will offer numerous public engagement nights centered around various topics which in my nearly two decades of experience people seem to misunderstand the most.

One of those nights will focus on delivering an overview of assessments and taxes; helping people understand that they are not the same thing, and what office to reach out to about questions in each.

Some of the items, but not all, which will be covered in this engagement night:

Assessments

  • What are they supposed to represent?

  • How often do they / should they change?

    • What items impact or change them?

    • What is being assessed?

  • Where to go to ask questions or appeal?

Taxes

  • What is their purpose?

  • Where does your money go?

  • What items impact or change them?

  • How do I read the TS-1 (tax bill)

  • Where to go to ask questions?
